Charleston Photographic field workshop
March 24 - March 28, 2019
$695/ Limited to 8 Students

Charleston Photographic Workshop Tour

Charleston is a city rich in history, tradition, Southern charm and beauty. The Battery Park area is one of the oldest communities in the U.S. and offers a wide range of photographic opportunities. We will be spending time photographing gardens, reflection ponds and cypress swamps. Angel Oak, a 1500 year old Live Oak, is the oldest living tree east of the Rockies and is one of the locations we will be visiting during the workshop. Our field time will be spent on composition and proper use of light. We will spend some time processing images using Lightroom, Topaz and Nik Software to help you with your processing skills. Our goal is to teach you how to capture beautiful images and explore how to create the images that continue to inspire.

Update: My last trip was a great success and a lot of fun! You can see some of my images from the Charleston Workshop, or read some kind remarks from a few of the people that attended. I look forward to doing it next year!

$860 / Limited to 8 Students

Zion, Bryce and Antelope Canyon/Dark Sky Photographic field workshop

Breathtaking Zion Canyon is the centerpiece of this 147,000 acre parkland that protects a spectacular landscape of high plateaus, sheer canyons, and monolithic cliffs. Our first night and sunset will be in Zion. Our next two nights will be spent in Bryce Canyon whose major feature is not a canyon, but a collection of giant natural amphitheaters along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to geological structures called hoodoos, formed by frost weathering and stream erosion. From Bryce we will travel to Antelope Canyon. These canyons are unlike any place in the world and provide photographers the Southwest's most sought-after photographic images. The muted gold, red and purple tones will take your breath away. The workshop ends on the 6th after a morning shoot and final critique session over breakfast.

The first shoot of this workshop will be at Kanarra Falls slot canyon in the, often missed, western section of Zion. Following this first shoot, we will move to cabins in the breathtaking East section of this 147,000-acre parkland that protects a spectacular landscape of high plateaus, sheer canyons, and monolithic cliffs. Their sculptured sandstone walls shaped by water and wind over eons provide photographers the Southwest's most sought-after photographic images. We will spend a night at Horseshoe Bend to capture the Milky Way and in the morning head to Upper Antelope Canyon where we will meet up with our Navajo guide. In September, shafts of light penetrate these narrow canyons and bounce soft light off the rock walls casting wonderful, muted colors against its sandstone walls. Workshop Overview

Workshop Overview

Workshops capture landscape images that excite and move, images that trace where the mind has been and forms a unique vision to last a lifetime. Students learn to apply new skills daily in a supportive environment where we share our collective knowledge to take the next step. We hold a deep passion for the places we travel, and explore images that continue to inspire. What takes time to create, time respects, for good images don't just happen. Most often, our best images lie around the next turn, waiting for us to find. Our philosophy understands that through photography and an open mind, the world is ever ready to delight. A Journey shared is truly a Journey remembered

The Roma and Cinque Terre photographic workshops trips were a great success. Both groups came home with some wonderful images and some wonderful memories. I will soon be posting some of the new images on the website and hope that you enjoy them as much as we enjoyed taking them. Many thanks to my two wonderful friends Steve and Grazia who helped make the Rome workshop very special. For anyone traveling to Roma for a holiday, taking one of their personalized day tours is a must.
